Swinging, Sliding, Running of Ice Cream

So after our run to Moo's, we had to bring them to the park and let them run off the strawberry sorbet. Oscar loves swinging so much we spend half the time begging him to get down and do something else.
This is the conversation that always happens after fifteen solid minutes of swinging:
Us: "Do you want to go on the slide?"
Oscar: "No! I'm swinging."
Us: Do you want to go play on the wagon?"
Oscar: "No! Just swinging."
Eventually though he can be persuaded, with the help of Parker, to do other things like climbing and sliding.

Trip to Moo's

We took Oscar & Parker to Moo's Ice Cream last Saturday for a treat, especially since the warm weather is disappearing quickly. Moo's makes the best ice cream and sorbet in the world, just ask Oscar. Parker & Oscar split a scoop of strawberry sorbet, and obviously they were big fans, they drank every last bit out of their bowls!

Bye Bye Binkie

As if the jauberry household is not crazy enough with a toddler boy.......... we are saying "bye bye to Oscar's most prized possession.........the BINKIE! (more like mom, dad, George, and Oscar's most prized possession)
Oh Oscar and his binkie have been through so much together, well Oscar and the 44 binkies we have bought, lost, found, lost again, and found again.
Remember when the binkie took up half your face?
Remember when we use to have to make sure there was one in all four of our diaper bags and every room in the house?
Remember when your mean old Daddy said last night, "I am sick of this binkie! We are getting rid of it, starting NOW." Wow, Oscar, when you read this blog when you are 22, just remember, Mom wanted you to keep that binkie until YOU wanted to get rid of it yourself. Now, I am fully aware that a 10 year old with a binkie playing soccer is slightly ridiculous. Just slightly. I am also aware that Mommy is a sucker when it comes to Oscar and those blue, blue eyes.
Just wait Daddy, the next one is going to be a little girl!!!!!

Binkie Update
Oscar did WAY better than expected. After two days, he went to sleep without a binkie and we have been completely binkie free since last Wednesday. We have learn to distract him with other activities and, of course, there is always puppy and motorcycle to comfort him.

We Love LA TECH

Anyone who has been around the jauberry gang knows we love our Alma Mater, Louisiana Tech University. Ask Matt & Pam, they make fun of us all the time because it is not unfathomable for the jauberry gang to all show up in blue LA Tech shirts and not know we are all dressed alike. It is interesting because it is not like we went to Harvard or a school known for sports like LSU or USC, but we do, we love LA Tech. So of course during the weekend our favorite little mascot, Oscar, is wearing his LA Tech football jersey. Doesn't he look so handsome? Maybe he will go to LA Tech one day and be as lucky as his dad and meet the most beautiful, smart, funny girl while in college too.

Hanna Elizabeth's Baptism

On Sunday, September 19, our beautiful little goddaughter, Hanna Elizabeth, was baptized. Luckily for us, our great friend, Ginny, volunteered to take the boys while Hanna was baptized. Oscar would have wanted to help, especially since we have been teaching him how to make the sign of the cross with the holy water. He was not happy about having to leave us, but once Ginny bribed him with pancakes and maple syrup, he was much better. Hanna was beautiful in the same lovely dress her mom, Pam, wore at her baptism. How lucky are we to be godparents of such a beautiful little girl?

Wilson Beach

Jackson Hole is known for many things like their long, sandy beaches. So on a hot, weekend afternoon you can pack up your beach bag and head out to Wilson Beach, which is about 15 minutes from our house. There are some minor, slight differences between Florida beaches and the Wilson beach. Our sand has not been turned in the waves enough, so instead of fine sand, we have river rocks. Give them another million years and they could be eroded into sand as well. Also the water is just slightly cooler at 60 degrees than the water in Florida, but who wants water that does not risk hypothermia in August?

Oscar and Parker loved the Wilson Beach. They do not need all those fancy amenities like golden sand and non-bone chilling water. They are MEN! Men don't need fancy drinks with umbrellas, they just need the rugged outdoors...... and sunscreen.

Putt-Putt Hike

We took all the kids up the Putt Putt Trail by our house this past Labor Day Weekend. I think Matt and Chris are trying to get Parker and Oscar ready for hunting season so they can drag the elk down the mountain instead of them. They have to come up with some way of carrying the 400 lbs of elk down the mountain. What better idea that two toddlers? They have tons of energy to spare.
As I am looking at these photos, I realize that Oscar desperately needs a haircut. Hopefully he will be getting one next Wednesday.

Paw Paw Charlie in Jellystone

Daddy came to see the jauberry gang last week! We had the best time with Paw Paw Charlie and it was so much fun taking Dad around to see all the sites. Thursday he went fishing in the Hoback Canyon and Snake River with Chris. The only downside was that the free waiters that someone had given Chris were free for very good reason- they were no longer waterproof! BBBRRRR! Dad had a great time anyway because who cares about freezing water when you are having such a good time.

Friday we went to Yellowstone and took Dad to see Old Faithful, Lower Falls, Paint Pots, etc. We saw several elk up close, which was great, and made it back almost in time to get Oscar from school (thanks again Pam & Matt!)

Saturday morning we took shelter under Wells Fargo's roof as hail and torrential rain poured down ten minutes. Then we went to the Harley Davidson shop, where Oscar got a new motorcycle toy, and then off to the Farmer's Market. It was still slightly drizzling as we went into the local Great Harvest Bakery. We sampled their delicious bread and bought a hot loaf of their "Popeye" bread (spinach, sun dried tomatoes, cheese, absolute yum). What a great start to a Saturday morning!

Hanna Elizabeth- Our Most Beautiful Goddaughter

Our friends Pam & Matt have a new bundle of joy! Hanna Elizabeth Gotham was born on August 15, weighting 7lbs 7oz! She is so beautiful and Pam & Matt asked Chris and me to be Godparents. We are so humbled and happy to be asked to be Godparents of such a wonderful, precious little girl.

Licensed Drivers Already?

We bought Oscar a Little Tikes Coupe this past weekend at a garage sale for $5. (Have I mentioned that I love garage sales.) It would be an understatement to say he loves this car. We have to pry his hands off the steering wheel to get him to go inside and eat. You know Oscar loves something when he will not even leave it to eat.

Summer Yard

Take thy plastic spade, It is thy pencil;
Take thy seeds, thy plants, They are thy colours.
- William Mason, The English Garden

I love summer in Jackson, but I definitely have a love/hate relationship with my yard. I love how beautiful my yard is, the beautiful flowers, the great decks, and it provides a wonderful place for Oscar to play. I hate weeding, hate it. I could think of so many things I would rather be doing in the beautiful, short Jackson summer than weeding. Also, when did I get so old that my back hurts now?!?! I am 28 for crying out loud, not 82!

Mom's Garden

My Mom sent us a big box full of wonderful things for our anniversary in June, and some of those items were seeds for my garden. I wanted to show you some photos I took earlier this summer as I am amazed that I grew something from seeds. Thanks Mom, we are going to harvest the lettuce this weekend! You are the best.

Houston

Josh and I surprised Valerie in July, and I went to see her in Houston! Valerie, as I have mentioned in previous blogs, is pregnant with Oscar's future wife. It was so much fun to be there with her and share this moment in her life. I cannot wait to be able to see her beautiful baby girl next month.......

Taken with my iPhone so not the most quality photo ever.
